“Cover the whole roof:” Home solar systems are getting much bigger, here’s why
Not that long ago, the advice many rooftop solar installers were giving their residential customers was to install just enough panels to meet the household’s average electricity demand – unless there were plans for a battery, too.
For some time, this meant the average residential solar system size across Australia was sitting at 6.6kW, and somewhere around that number tended to be where quotes for new rooftop systems would fall.

Energy Next: using renewable energy for process heat
Decarbonising industrial process heat is a major challenge for Australia and it accounts for more than 40% of fossil fuel use in industry.
While a number of renewable energy options have been identified as suitable for decarbonising industrial process heat, they have historically been unable to compete on financial terms. This continued perception has contributed to the low take-up of such options, particularly industrial heat pumps, which are being used increasingly outside of Australia.

Trina Solar Launching 430W Vertex Residential Modules at Energy Next
Trina Solar is launching its new generation of award-winning Vertex S residential rooftop modules at the Energy Next exhibit in Sydney.
Single module power for the upgraded version of the Vertex S modules has increased by up to 30W. This additional power has been achieved by implementing the latest 210mm rectangular silicon wafer technology.

Heat pumps ‘grossly underestimated’ technology for Australia’s decarbonisation
Interest and investment in heat pumps has surged in Europe, but in Australia the technology has struggled to find a serious foothold. Industrial heat pumps could reduce ‘hard to abate’ emissions here by 15 million tonnes per annum by 2050, according to new modelling from the Australian Alliance for Energy Productivity though. Despite the potential, dodgy technology suppliers and schemes gone awry have left a bad taste in Australia’s mouth, CEO Jarrod Leak tells pv magazine Australia.
